Centripetal Force & Third Man Records Announce Luke Schneider’s ‘It Is Solved By Walking’
Thrilled to hear news of a new Luke Schneider album and just as thrilled to learn that the best psych label, Centripetal Force, is partnering with Third Man for its release. Luke’s otherworldly pedal steel meditations are revolutionary and I cannot wait to walk around and listen to It Is Solved By Walking and receive his revelations.
Most folks likely associate the latin word ‘Gloria’ as a religious term of praise and adulation, bestowed upon deities and righteous or accomplished mortals. For me, it has always been an apt word to describe the overwhelming awe and peace that i feel in nature, whether that be while walking in a lush old-growth forest, gazing at a majestic vista, relaxing on a tranquil beach, or sometimes simply jogging through a humble city park. I created this piece to be a soundtrack for scenes such as these, which will obviously be different locales and times for each of us. In these environments, I encourage the listeners with the capabilities to experience the enveloping Dolby Atmos mix, and also to experiment with the noise cancelling features of headphones and earbuds both on and off, so that the natural sounds of your sacred places may be able to subtly enhance this recorded music.

Centripetal Force is excited to announce It Is Solved By Walking, the second solo release from
pedal steel guitarist Luke Schneider. The album is being presented in conjunction with Third Man
Records, who will be handling digital sales and distribution, including a spatial audio Dolby Atmos
mix of the release that will begin streaming on July 21. Centripetal Force is handling the physical
release, including editions on cassette, compact disc, and vinyl. All formats will be available for
preorder on both the Centripetal Force and Luke Schneider Bandcamp sites on June 27.
Cassettes and CDs are expected to ship in early August. The vinyl pressing, a 500 copy edition of
350 black and 150 transparent clear records, is expected to ship in October.
Luke Schneider is a pedal steel guitarist based in Nashville. An Ohio native, Schneider moved to
Tennessee to go to college with dreams of becoming a folk-rock stylist but has recently found his
place in the landscape of New Age and pastoral Americana. His well-received debut solo album,
Altar of Harmony (Third Man Records), is a collection of ambient compositions created entirely
by pedal steel. His work on It Is Solved By Walking continues the recent experimental elevation
of the pedal-steel guitar and delves deeper into the worlds of ambient sounds and moods.
Like Altar of Harmony, the inspiration for this new collection of songs is rooted in Schneider’s
daily meditation practices, as well as his own spiritual journey. The album reflects his deepened
understanding of how sound can help listeners transcend their current space and guide them in
directing their energies inward. There is a sharpened focus to the songwriting on It Is Solved by
Walking, a move that unclouds the troubled eye and opens the doors of clarity. Where
Schneider’s initial works were offered at the altar, his space for inner contemplation, these
compositions mark a step in Schneider’s spiritual journey that sees him ready to direct his
energies in more outward directions. He has done the hard work of examining his inner self and is
now prepared to share his message with others. It Is Solved by Walking is an invitation to
listeners to join him on the journey towards a better world, a stronger community, and the universal
truths we all seek.
