Trevor Beld Jimenez – Faces in the Crowd : Listen

The highly anticipated first single from Trevor Beld Jimenez upcoming solo debut I Like It Here is streaming on all platforms today.

I wrote “Faces” on my mom’s piano in a flurry of songs that were coming out and it was the first one from that batch where [my wife] Tania said, “This one is special.”
It was when I realized I could make a record.

Trevor is a prolific songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been a driving force of the southern California music scene for the better part of the last decade. He was the central member of the folk rock collective Tall Tales and Silver Linings, then went on to make up one half of the excellent indie pop band Parting Lines. Trevor continues to write, sing and play drums with GospelbeacH, and his contributions can be heard on albums by Fruit Bats, Kacey Johansing, and Neal Casal.

Although Trevor’s record is ready to fly on its own, plenty of talented friends lent a hand to creating this album. “Faces in the Crowd” features Bob Glaub, bassist to some of Beld Jimenez’s inspirations like Jackson Browne and Don Henley. Also present are GospelbeacH bandmates guitar virtuoso Matthew Hill and pianist Jonny Niemann, who also produced and engineered the album in his Los Feliz studio, Mono Deluxe. Los Angeles cosmic staple Andres Renteria plays percussion; and harmonies by Kacey Johansing, Nelson Bragg, and Clay Finch add depth and texture to the song.

The visuals that accompany the audio tell the story of a day in LA. Shot by Canadian photographer Emily Badgley, the photos show Trevor traveling from Highland Park to Glendale, to DTLA, Hollywood, and back – all the best parts of the city, reflecting iconic spaces that Trevor’s predecessors made music in and locations where he continues the tradition with his own honey-colored melodies and old soul lyricism.

I Like It Here is out November 13th. Pre-order it at Curation Records.
