Sunstack Jones (feat. Tan Cologne) – Even Though
Nearly a year ago, I dreamt that two of my favorite dreamiest-sounding artists on opposite sides of the globe would collaborate, knowing the resulting sound would be everything I could ever want and more. Fast forward to the present, and with this release, I was proven right. Kaleidoscopic layers of synth, soft acoustic and ethereal electric guitar, hypnotic cajon, and haunting vocals make the simplest of lyrics an enigmatic journey of intrigue. Just when I thought Sunstack Jones’ sound could not get more lush, and Tan Cologne could not get more ruminative, they came together and created the soundtrack of a hazy, mysterious flight into the unknown.
Even Though is something different from the band. Revealing itself slowly in spacious, atmospheric
layers & shimmering brightly until dissipating into itself. In a bid to try and make something that
sounded like a rocket made from wood, the song was recorded in stripped back fashion with Richy
on Cajon and David working the Moog synthesiser. The song features a beautiful guest appearance
from Lauren Green and Marissa Macias of the band Tan Cologne- recorded in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico – and the two groups work in perfect harmony in this trance like ode to metathesiaphobia
(the fear of change).
The song will be released on July 22nd via Mai 68 records. What’s more – Tan Cologne will journey from their vortex in Taos, New Mexico to Sunstack Jones’ Liverpool to play together on September 13th. What a sight to behold! Get tickets here.
