Max Look – Seventeen : Listen

Former Midwesterner Max Look made the right move coming over to California – his breezy, Mac DeMarco-meets-fucked-up-Tweedy vibe seems better suited to friendlier climates. Seems Max has wasted no time observing the storied tradition of young musicians heading to the desert to absorb the spirit.

Max has played in a handful of outfits over the years and is now going it alone. The first single from a trio he’ll be releasing over the next few weeks is out today, “Seventeen.” Max invites the listener to “groove with me baby, let’s move to the breeze.” Lo-fi meets shoegaze to create a laid-back earworm that’s obviously California cool.

Although his latest endeavor to release a record as himself is indeed a “solo,” musicians from all over the map contributed remotely while locked down. Look enlisted a mighty roster of collaborators from Ohio and California, Washington DC, Reseda, and hell, even a cat.
