Jeffrey Alexander & the Heavy Lidders share “Carousel Of Flowers” from upcoming S/T release

Jeffrey Alexander is releasing his project with the Heavy Lidders on Arrowhawk Records on August 6th. The Heavy Lidders boasts a killer lineup of, well, heavy hitters Jesse Sheppard and Drew Gardner (Elkhorn) and Scott Verrastro. Ryan Jewell, Pat Gubler, Rosali Middleman, Marissa Nadler and more also make appearances

The first single, “Carousel of Flowers” is available on Bandcamp now and you can watch the vivid, kaleidoscopic video with art by the awesomely talented Aubrey Nehring here.

From our friend Mike Mannix’s notes on the album , “Jeffrey Alexander + The Heavy Lidders is a refreshing take on familiar sounds. There are clear references to the hazy, glazey Crazy Horse days of Neil Young, as well as nods to the stylings of bands like the Meat Puppets and Dinosaur Jr. Alexander’s penchant for heady songwriting is pervasive yet subtle, a welcome shift that creates the kind of space necessary for the instrumentation to take focus and seep deep into the brain. And, to his credit – and the album’s strength – Alexander avoids the common missteps of featuring guest artists and allows his contributors to fully immerse themselves in the creative experience. This adds an element of sincerity that helps the songs to develop in a much more complete and meaningful way. Ultimately, whatever shifted Alexander in this direction is not as important as the results that are heard throughout the album. After all, you can only be as good as the people with whom you surround yourself.”

Complete with fresh material as well as a mind-blowing interpretation of Gene Clark’s already-severely-heady “Strength of Strings,” this blissed-out album made by these prolific, intelligent players is surely one of this year’s highlights.
