Herman Dune – Say You Love Me Too : Listen

The Swedish-born artist has released the first single from his record Notes from Vinegar Hill. Herman Dune’s lyrics and delivery are heavily reminiscent of David Berman, to whom the record is dedicated. Caitlin Rose’s backing vocals along with pedal steel cement the Americana breeze that wafts through the album.

Dune is certainly a character, in every sense, adopting various pseudonyms to release music under over the last 20 years (Dune is another – he’s also used his given name David-Ivar, Yaya, and Black Yaya). He’s lived in Vinegar Hill in San Pedro, California for the last five years, on the very same street Bukowski spent his later life. The album is filled with ruminations on pain and loneliness, as well as short meditations on the beauty to be found in the harbor town.

The record will be released digitally on Santa Cruz Records on November 6th.
