Hayden Pedigo – “Letting Go”
Texas musician Hayden Pedigo just announced a new record, Letting Go, to be released 9/24 via Mexican Summer. The title track pairs Pedigo’s signature intricate finger-picking with ambient synth, bass, field recordings, and pedal steel courtesy of Luke Schneider. Pedigo and recording engineer/producer/arranger Andrew Weathers are both adept at creating sonic landscapes very much interdependently entwined with their surroundings. No doubt Letting Go will be lush, evocative, and timeless. “My good friends Rocco and Gilles pitched the idea of making a video around the character on the front cover of the album to kind of show the stranger side of…

Nashville singer and songwriter Bea Troxel has announced a new album, Gettin’ Where, to be released on September 17th via Ruination Record Co. The album deals with identity, learning to live in your own body, and according to Bea, “these songs are about action, about being seen and learning to claim desire,” a deeply personal and relatable theme as Bea discovered her queer identity, felt the sweet sting of first love and left a job that refused to accept that part of her. Gettin’ Where is both a quiet meditation and a jubilant embrace of self that comes from struggle.…

The Roseline – “Paper Plane”
Today, Kansas City’s The Roseline shares a single from their new album, Constancy, that’ll be out later this year, so keep your eyes on them. Paper Plane by The Roseline “This song is arguably the most epic and ambitious thing we’ve attempted. It’s almost seven minutes long and bookended by spacey guitar loops, so it’s pretty decidedly anti-single. I just wanted to write a really propulsive heartland rocker. Lyrically, it’s a fictional narrative about a person escaping a dead-end town. We’re all pretty stoked about how it came out.” Colin Halliburton (lead singer/songwriter) “Paper Plane” credits: Colin Halliburton – acoustic…

Corntuth – The Desert Is Paper Thin
Last week, ambient musician Corntuth released their record The Desert Is Paper Thin, a concept record soundtracking a long desert drive throughout the course of an entire day, from sunrise to late evening. Corntuth recorded it during the pandemic as a means of escapism, and summoned industry veteran Pete Finney to add lush pedal steel to the emotive and organic-sounding record. The video was filmed in Landers, Calif. The idea was to make an ambient film, with the hope that people would put it on their computer screens and play it while they worked so they might feel like they…
