Lauren Helene Green – “Canyon Loop”

Elated to share this gorgeous ambient guitar song from Lauren Helene Green’s upcoming solo debut album Outer Highway Realms, out October 7th, 2022 on Royal Oakie Records. Lauren is half of Petal Motel favorite Tan Cologne, as well as an artist, woodworker, bright light, and so much more. As a lover of all of Lauren’s previous musical work and of guitar soli, this contemplative high desert instrumental release is most welcome and so exciting. Like all of Green’s work, the music retains its effervescent essence, but has a more solitary expression, like the isolated alien landscape that inspired these recordings. In the frosted Winter to early Spring cross-fade of 2022, Green recorded 8 songs over the course of a week in Ranchos de Taos, NM. The album “Outer Highway Realms” is a collection of observations on New Mexico’s slow desert, echoes of time and space, morning reflections, sunset drives, guitar meanderings through hot springs, canyon loop walks, and visions floating between woodworking and gardening. Nature sounds and ambient snippets were woven into songs, creating a blend of all seasons and overlapping time. 

“Canyon Loop” is inspired by a scenic trail we walk with our dog, Cowboy. The song moves throughout winding streams, plant life, interesting rocks and mica found along the way and gleaming moments of the path. It ends at a lookout point where we observe, smell the Pinyon Pine and make a loop back around.
